Bernie drove up the track yesterday evening and retrieved about ten gliders. He missed a few though and five or six pilots still have their gliders on the hill.
It rained on and off all night and before briefing at 10:00am. At midday we called Godfrey to check on the road conditions and it was raining on launch, so Billo then cancelled the day. About forty pilots went to Willi Ewig's Sky Ranch for some aero-towing and we managed about four hours without rain. A few pilots boated around for half an hour or so and Willi then entertained us with a display in his single seater helicopter.
We had a few hours of very heavy rainfall in the evening, not raising hopes of the track being drivable in the morning. A free dinner was put on by the competition at the RSL and then pilots partied on into the early hours at the Royal pub, trying to see if a hangover might help make the weather flyable. Some pilots are cutting their losses and leaving.
