More Information

The Canungra Classic continues to be the most innovative competition on the Australian calendar. In 1998 we introduced GPS verification of turnpoints. We will be repeating the use of GPS verification this year, although this year GPS will be mandatory, making it possible to have a start gate and possibly a turnpoint on the last day. Cameras can be used for backup on all but the last day. All that is required is a GPS that can store a track log and timestamped waypoints. Currently the only models acceptable are the Garmin and Aircotec GPSs.

Read the GPS Users Guide

For accessories for your GPS check out Brian Sommerville's web page http://www.ozemail.com.au/~bsommer. Plugs for Garmin GPS will be available during the competition from the scorer.

National Ladder Before Canungra Classic 2000

Ladder

This year the Canungra Classic is rated AA, making it one of the top two scoring competitions in Australia this season. National ladder points of up to 360 are available at this competition. Most pilots from the national team will be here.

Canungra Classic uses GAP

The Canungra Classic will once again use the GAP scoring system updated now to the GAP2000 formulae. This increases the early bird bonus scheme to encourage pilots to leave early and not just follow everyone else. It also makes the nominal number of pilots in goal a more important parameter in day validity calculations. If you want your own copy of RACE 2000 see FAI Race page.
